Luigi helped himself to the food, mostly because it gave him something to take his mind off what Vittoria had just said. And because he truely loved his mothers cooking. No one in the world, not even five star chefs, could make food like she could. He wasn't sure if it was the way she made the food or if it was because it was made by her. It just tasted better.
"The food is wonderful Mama." Luigi said eating the ravioli and eel and taking a large sip of the wine. Mentally Luigi wished it was a much stronger liqour like scotch or whisky. He'd need it to get through the night. He glanced across the table at Vittoria, his grip tightening around his knife. All he'd have to do is get her alone and then he'd make damn sure she'd never cross him again.

Pavi tried to eat normally, but the whole event had put him off his meal quite well for the time being. Even his mother's cooking didn't seem to make him feel very hungry like it usually did. At this point, however, it had less to do with the fact that he was feeling upset and more to do with the fact that he was scheming.
Vittoria's kiss earlier had given him all the inspiration he needed. The girl seemed to want nothing more from them than the occasional argument, murderous expenditure, and sex. Pavi intended to give her, or rather, make her think he was giving her, the final option. He would tease her, embarrass her, and expose her to her own carnal desires that Vittoria probably didn't even want to realize that she had.
He would make her feel like a whore.
At Luigi's remark, Pavi suddenly pulled himself from his own thoughts and forced a smile towards their mother. "Luigi is-a right; it is-a maginifico meal, Mama," he agreed, but with less of the competing, edgy tone that he normally had when complimenting her with Luigi around. He intended to keep in Luigi's good graces(or whatever you would call them in his brother's case) for now, with the hope that if anything, he, Luigi, and Amber could stick together for now against their sadistic younger sister.

Lucretzia beamed at Pavi and Luigi's complements. It made a warm loving warmth spread all over her body, it made her feel that she was doing a good job making up for lost time with them. (Not that an occasional home cooked meal could make up for over two decades worth of being absent.) Still the enjoyment of her food meant the world to her. She put all her heart and soul into making meals that not only fed them but showed them how much she loved them.
"Grazi bellos." She said taking a sip of her own wine and digging into her kale salad. Lucretzia glanced over at Amber. "Carmella," She said, forgetting to use Amber's preferred name, frowning a little at Amber's untouched plate. "Why-a are you-a not eating?"
"Mama," Amber sighed playing with the food on her plate but not lifting a single morsel to her mouth. "I don't want to gain any weight, I have to maintain a good image, for the company. If I gain even an ounce they'll know and then it'll be all over the gossip columns by the end of the week. So, as much as I would like to eat your food I can't."
Lucretzia frowned at that, she hated the ridiculously high standards the public set for Amber, and the standards she set for herself. Had it been any other night, Lucretzia would've insisted if not argued with Amber over her diet. But tonight was Christmas Eve, and she wanted everyone to be happy.
"Well...the kale salad is-a good for you, Amber." She said carefully. "It-a has no fat in-a it, and you need more vegetables in-a your diet. I know, I know I'm-a nagging but-a I want you to-a be healthy." Amber nodded but said nothing trying to ignore her sister next to her. Truth was she felt like throwing up sitting next to Vittoria.
The girl scared Amber, and considering that she grew up practically witnessing both Luigi and Pavi committing a murder daily, if not hourly, that was truly saying something. Maybe it was because Vittoria seemed unfazed by everything around her, extra observant (as she just demonstrated with Pavi's little "secret.") and ruthless when it came to getting what she wanted. She just hoped, for all their sakes, that Vittoria was done messing with them and would behave herself the rest of the night. And that Luigi and Pavi would hold off any retaliation's for awhile.
