"Yes," Amber said taking her mothers other hand and stroking the palm with her nails. "It's good to have you home with us." Amber really had seen the looks Vittoria was giving Pavi, and Pavi's very obvious act to try and not appear intimidated by the girl.
"Especially now that you've brought a brand new edition to the family!" Amber used her other hand to stroke Toria's black wavy hair. "I've always did want a little sister, and you're just as pretty as I would've hoped too!" She turned her attention on Pavi smirking at the chance to put her already nervous elder brother on the spot. "Pavi, isn't our sorellina beautiful?"

Pavi turned to face Amber, a bit too sharply. He shot the younger woman a look, but masked it with a fake smile. Not that he had much choice, as his mask for the evening was frozen in a perpetual, dead grin. Inwardly, however, his mind was running through a mix of emotions; embarrassment for being put on the spot, uncertainty as to what he should say in response, and irritation at Amber for making him speak in the first place.
"B-But of course," Pavi said after a few moments. There was that damn stutter again, faint as it may be, hiding in his voice. "She takes after Mama. Why wouldn't she be-a pretty?" He continued, trying not to babble. He faced Vittoria with a smile, though he knew that she'd see straight through it. Not that he cared. He was far more anxious to turn away from her and her creepy little smile at the knowledge of what she'd just done. Turning his attention back to his plate, Pavi took a fork full of the food into his mouth, as an excuse not to speak again. Hopefully, his mother wouldn't pick up on this strange behavior like his siblings had.

Vittoria smiled at that, which to everyone but Pavi, was a sweet and shy smile. "Grazi fratello." She said starting on her own salad for a moment to keep from giggling at his distress. Then she looked up at him with a mischievous (and a little malicious) glimmer in her eyes.
"Pavi?" She said in a curious and innocent tone of voice. "Would-a you say that-a I'm-a pretty enough, that-a if I wasn't you're-a sorellina, that-a you'd be interested in-a me?"

Luigi wasn't entirely sure what was going on between Pavi and Vittoria, but only that for whatever reason she made him nervous. Luigi smirked and raised an eyebrow at the fact that a fifteen year old school girl was making someone like Pavi nervous.
Usually he would've made a quick and hurtful comment about Pavi's sexual prefrences (or lack there of) when he heard Vittoria's next question. Maybe it was because their mother was around, but Luigi had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from bursting out laughing.

At this very straight-forward question, Pavi nearly choked on his salad. Dammit, this girl really liked to test him! He had to force himself to swallow, taking yet another swig of wine to wash down the food. He could see Luigi smirking out of the corner of his eye, which only made things worse, and made him cough harder. Pounding on his own chest a few times, he covered his face with a napkin, grateful for a moment in which he could hide his face.
Why wasn't the alcohol working??? Normally by now he'd at least feel a bit of a buzz....perhaps he was too tense to feel it yet. Slowly retracting the napkin from his face, Pavi forced a sheepish smile, trying to avoid his mother's gaze as he turned back towards Vittoria.
"Scusa," he coughed. "Bit of-a...food, there. Ah, wh-why, why would-a you ask such questions, sorellina? After all, you-a wouldn't want-a someone like-a your fratello interested in-a you, would-a you?" Pavi gave a nervous laugh, glancing away and back down at his place.
Thinking this to sound suspicious, Pavi added, "But-a...yes, perhaps. You are very lovely, Vittoria. I think that-a Mama must have-a had her hands-a full keeping you away from-a the bellos, no?"

"She-a did actually." Vittoria said pleasently thrilled at her older brothers obvious nervousness. The teenage girl paused taking a sip of her water and began eating her salade, as if she was finished talking. Then she started speaking again, planning how and what she was going to say next carefully
"Mama once-a shot a boy in his-a foot for-a trying to-a look up my skirt." Vittoria said casually, almost sweetly, as if everyone's mother shot people. " Don't-a worry he survived, and-a only lost one of-a his toes."

"Toria!" Lucretzia said shocked that her youngest child would blurt something out like that. It was true that she had indeed shot a young man (more of a man really in Lucretzia's eyes) who was in his early twenties in his foot.
Lucretzia and her daughter had been out shopping together, for new school clothes as she recalled, and the older woman had failed to notice that a young man was following them. Until she had noticed from standing far away that he was taking pictures of Vittoria's panties with his camera phone. At that moment Lucretzia looked around (not seeing anyone else around them or security cameras) took her pistol out of her purse, aimed and fired at the mans foot.
While he was distraced by the blood and the pain Lucretzia and Vittoria got out of there as fast as they could, but not before Lucretzia "accidently" crushed the mans phone beneath her feet.
"We don't-a discuss such matters at-a the dinner table, dear. And I believe that-a we both agreed to-a keep that-a incident between the-a two of us."

"Holy shi-" Luigi said but quickly stopped himself before he cursed in front of his mother. Luigi looked very wide eyed at his mother, trying to picture his hurting anyone let along shooting someone. She was the kindest, gentlest, and most soft spoken Luigi ever knew, it was very difficult to picture he doing that.
"Mama, is that true?! Did you really shoot someone...an in public too?" Looks like even their mother had a secret dark side just like every other member of the Largo family. Not that Luigi loved her any less now. In fact he wondered if maybe that's where he got his violent streak from and if maybe she wouldn't mind so much if he stabbed someone in front of her.

"Sì, mamma." Vittoria said instantly subduded by her mothers sharp tone and look. She hated when her mother was upset with her, Toria never wanted her mother to be upset with her. Deep down she was always afraid that one day Lucretzia would stop loving her because of something bad she did. (And she had done plenty.) So to make up for it, Vittoria made sure her mother never ever found out about what she was really like and to always do as she was told by her mother.
"Mi dispiace." She said eyes down cast towards her food. "Io non lo porterò di nuovo."

"It's-a alright, bambina." Lucretzia said finishing off her salad, and gesturing for a servant to take it away to the kitchen "Just-a remember there are-a somethings that-a you shouldn't talk about, even to your-a family."
"Now, who's ready for the-a main course?"She smiled sweetly then, as if the subject of her shooting off someones toes had never come up. Lucretzia hoped that little fact wouldn't change her children's opinion of her, after all she only did it to protect her youngest daughter from a pervert who was attempting to take advantage of her.
She just did what she did because she felt she needed to keep her child safe and punish the man for crossing the line. Lucretzia would do anything to keep her children safe, even if it meant doing something morally wrong, malicious, or down right illegal. "I-a spent quite a bit of-a time on it, and it's-a one of my favorite type of-a lasagnas to-a make. So I-a hope you all enjoy eating it, as-a much as I enjoyed making it."

"Si, Mama." Vittoria said matching her mothers smile with her own. She was just glad her mother had forgiven her so quickly, it seemed that Vittoria's only weakness was the love she had for her mother. And the constant fear of doing something that would make the woman stop loving her. "As if I could-a not enjoy anything you-a made."
Maybe she was laying on the 'loving daughter' act a little thick, but it was true. Her mother was a very, very good cook. And Vittoria was suprised that her mother hadn't decided to become a chef or cooking teacher when she went into hiding. Though she supposed her mother had her reasons, which hopefully she would eventually explain to her someday. And prehapse tonight, as she was dying to know what exactly happened between Lucretzia and her late father whom she never met.
Vittoria had spent her entire life thinking she was an illigetimate child being raised by a single mother. She had asked about her father before when she was younger, only to be told by her mother that she would find out about him when she was older. As she got older though Vittoria figured that maybe her Mama didn't even know who her father was anyway. Not that it mattered to the girl anyway. But she would've never thought that Rotti Largo was her biological father. Not even in a million years.
